Local News Cat treated with tilapia skin after house fire returns home Danielle Meadows 1:00 - KMTV - 3 News Now

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — In late December, a young cat named King was left with burns to about 50% of his body after being rescued from a house fire.

After intensive care from the Nebraska Humane Society, including the successful use of tilapia skin as a bandage , NHS said Sunday that King has healed enough to go home.

"He'll finish recovering in comfort, at home with his family, and surrounded by attention," NHS said in a Twitter post.

While King will need check-ups, stitch removal and at least one more surgery, NHS believes healing at home is what's best for now.
